    HELIX deep sea unit
    DESCRIPTION
The unit is based around the 9522A L-band transceiver (can now be supplied with 9601A Talladega/Helix Ver.2 in a smaller housing), engineered here for deep-sea (6000m) and extreme environment applications. No longer are communications limited to one-way, power-hungry and expensive-to-run systems. The two-way communications are truly global, enabling high volume data retrieval and remote reprogramming of missions. The low power consumption, with ‘Off’ and ‘Sleep’ modes available, is ideal for any remote land or sea application. Receiving GPS and transmitting one 20 second data message of 1960 Bytes uses only 1 W. All of Iridium Satellite’s highly economical services are supported.
