The unit measures only 1.4" wide x 4" high x 6" long (36 x 104 x 154 mm) and includes built-in Iridium and active GPS antennas as well as a rechargeable Li-ion back-upbattery for >800 autonomous transmissions.
A plug-in mains power supply is provided to allow you to either run the unit off this supply and/or re-charge the batteries. A mast mount can also be included for fixing to vertical or horizontal spars or rails (up to 2” (50 mm) diameter).
Installation requires that the unit:
- has a good view of the sky
- be mounted securely (3 feet (1 m) away from any Inmarsat installation!)
- has the on/off magnet removed.
.... and that's it!
If Polaris is to be run on external power, plug in the power supply and turn it on.
